Toys, Toys, Toys....

Good evening everyone! It is that time of year. Fall is in the air, costumes have been sewn and right around the corner is Christmas. I love Christmas. I love decorating, traditions and most importantly the meaning of Christmas.

If you are anything like me though, I have not really prepared and organized the toys from last year. I have serious storage issues. So, I am now left with wondering where and how to organize all these toys so we can make room for just a few more. Although I am sure we will most definitely sort through and donate to well deserving families.

Through a client of ours imagination, we were able to build a toy box that met her storage needs. This Coastal inspired toy box also features chalkboard fronts and rope handles. We used CeCe Caldwell's Beckly Coal for the chalkboards. Aren't they fabulous?

Approximate dimensions are 36" tall x 72" wide

You can do it too- 3 coats of CeCe Caldwell's paint, drying between each coat, then season the surface with white chalk. Wipe and there you have it- chalkboards in your favorite color!

Tons of storage- not to mention very cool!

I hope I have left you with inspiration in your own search for storage. There are many variations and color combinations to make each one unique.

If you would like to place an order please email me through my button or call our store.

Getting a New Look

It's been a while since my last post.... I've had multiple projects underway and wanted to share a few with you. As you know we custom build furniture from various reclaimed wood. But we also carry the complete line of CeCe Caldwell's Paints, Waxes & Finishes. Each week I try to feature a new project, so this week I have chosen this great little Bombay Chest.

See how it all took place....

Here's what ya need...

It's very important to think about the look you are wanting to achieve before you begin. I wanted this chest to look as if it had created a beautiful patina throughout the years. With that being said, I wanted a lot of texture to show.

Normally, I remove the drawers but these we attached. So I just left them to paint last. Begin with your base coat, mine is Chesapeak Blue, by the way it is now a permanent color in the CeCe Caldwell Paint Line. Yay!! (It is one of my most favorite colors)

Here it is completely painted with its base coat.

Next step is to apply the Seattle Mist Wash. I used a 50/50 mixture. Half paint, half water. Brush on and wipe away immediately.

Here she is ready to be waxed- I could stop here with a coat of waxing cream, but remember, I want a variated texture and patina. So, on to the next step....

Using Dark Aging Cream, I applied it over the ENTIRE piece, knowing it would give me a variated effect to the paint.

If you are only wanted to age certain spots, only use it in those areas :)

Dark Aging Cream is not a finish product, so after wiping away all the excess, I finished with a thin layer of Waxing Cream and buff, buff, buff.

Here she is.

Sold the day I finished and is now happy in her new home!

Creating Collections

Happy Tuesday morning! It's back to work and I've been waiting very patiently (ok, not so patiently) to bring you our newest collection, "The Veranda". Warm wood tones and antique shutters add character to any room. This collection will feature chests, dressers and beds. The choice is yours to use one or all of them in your space. You can also choose your finish, painted or stained,  since we build every piece in house. The moving men will not be happy - these pieces are substantial, heavy pieces. Solid wood, soft close drawers and antique shutters are just a few details which makes our pieces unique. Also, they are made in America- Foley, Alabama to be exact, so you can be proud knowing your furniture is made locally and you are supporting a Local Business.

Cherished Memories

I hope everyone has enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend. We have so much to be thankful for and we owe honor to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our great nation.

School has just ended here so, Dwayne and I enjoyed a little R&R in Seaside, FL with the kiddos where we turned off all electronic devices. It was great! Everyone had a blast taking in the sun, sand and surf. LG even tried a little surfing while AC was comfortable finding unique shells to add to her collection!

So Happy Tuesday and enjoy the rest of your week!
